How to get involved

Contact your local State or Federal MP

The movement for voluntary euthanasia in both our state and federal parliaments requires our urgent action!

Christians are charged to be concerned about the plight of the elderly, vulnerable and frail within our communities. One way we can do this is politely and briefly outlining our concerns about the introduction of voluntary euthanasia to our local State and Federal Members of Parliament. A personal visit or hand written letter will always be much more effective than an email.

The bill to legalise euthanasia in NSW is being discussed in the Upper House of NSW Parliament very soon. Now is the time to be writing letters to members of the Legislative Council (members of the Upper House). To write a letter, you can address it as follows:

Name of member of Legislative Council
Parliament House
Macquarie Street
Sydney NSW 2000

To communicate with your local State member (in the Lower House):

  1. You can use this link to find the name of your electorate.
  2. Then find your member here, and use the details provided to contact them for an appointment, or send them a letter.

A bill has also been moved by the Greens leader Senator Bob Brown in the Senate of the Australian Parliament called the Restoring Territory Rights (Voluntary Euthanasia Legislation) Bill 2010. This Bill is seeking to amend three territory Acts to remove the prohibition on legalising voluntary euthanasia. This Bill will be debated soon in the Australian Senate. You can use this link to find the contact details for the members of the Senate.

To communicate with your local Federal member (in the House of Representatives):

  1. If you know the name of your Federal member, their contact details can be found here.
  2. Alternatively, you can use the search facility provided here to find your electorate and local member, and then contact them with the details provided.

Sign our petition

Another great way to get involved is to print out a copy of this petition and organise a meeting at your local church on euthanasia where you can provide people with an opportunity to sign the petition. It can then be sent to:

Clerk of the Parliaments
NSW Legislative Council
Parliament House
Macquarie Street
Sydney NSW 2000
